Our New Appliance Friend

So for Christmas this year our friends gave us a freezer. It is truley a blessing. I have been praying for a way to get this freezer so we could start to obtain a three months supply of foods we eat on a regular basis. I am really excited about this. As you can see so are the kids. We are so blessed!!

Zoo Lights

We had the opportunity to go to zoo lights last Friday night with our friends the Goodmans. We had a really good time. Abagayle fell alseep just before we got ont he train and woke up about 30 min before we left. Jackson was a little disappointed that there were not more animals out. But he did enjoy the lights all around the zoo. Here are a few pictures from the night!!

Christmas Card Oops

I got our cards printed at Costco again this year, which I love 15.99 for 50 photo cards and envelopes. I have done it now for the last two years.

However this year, it says:
Brandon, Heather
Jackson & Abgayle
Perkes

They left out the a in Abagayle. I checked I typed in correct, whatever right :) Something to laugh about later I guess. I had already mailed out about 45 of them, when the error was pointed out to me, thanks jason young :)

Going to See Santa

So we deceided to take the kids to see Santa. They had seen him in the mall earlier and we had told them we could go back and visit him. So we thought a wednesday night would be great, probably not as busy. Little did we know it was pet night. That is right pet night. Where all the crazy people brign their animals, some are dressed up, and have their pets pictures with Santa. We waited in line for over 1 hour, as over half of the line was pets. Now I know that some kids love dogs and such, however my children only like them from a distance. So for the first half hour we had to hold Abagayle because she was terrified to be put down. The people behind us in line had two HUGE boxers. Now the line also had sudden smells of poop that came wofting by, Fantastic! I am unsure of how much urine I may have stepped in as the was the second of three pet nights. So we are two people away from entering Santa's door and we are waiting for over 10 min. Here I am thinking there must be some kid having a little trouble with Santa. NO some lady cannot get a santa hat on her DOG! Maybe that is because dogs are not meant to wear clothes. Millions of kids write letters to Santa each year, not animals. I actually heard someone say " I thought tonight was only for pets, why are there kids here" Are you kidding me!! People and their pets, whatever, I do not understand it. Next time they should take them to Petco for Santa pictures, after all it is where the pets go. Santa at the mall is for KIDS!!
Enough with the rant. (This is the day after, you should have heard me Wed. night:) So when we got up there of course Abagayle was terrified and would not even stand next to Santa. However she did give him her card she colored for him. That says she wants Barbie for Christmas. Jackson on the other hand, hopped right on up there. He told Santa he wanted a gun, thanks to Dad coaching in line for a BB Gun, not going to happen. Santa was kind enough to say that he does not always bring kids exactly what they want. He told him to leave out milk and cookies and carrots for the reindeer. Then to go to bed early, thanks santa. It was cute.

As we left Abagayle was pretty upset that she did not get her Christmas present right then. :) I love her.

Gingerbread Houses

So today we made gingerbread houses. We went to the Winco bulk section the night before to stock up on some candy. We had gingerbread dough to roll out and make from scratch however we quickly realized that it was only going to be enough for Dad's HUGE house he wanted to make. So I ran to Safeway and they had some 4.00 kits you could make. Jackson did quite a bit of sampling the candy, however Abagayle was more interested in making her house. Here is our fun day!

Jackson's has a tree and a car. WOW!

Abagayle had a candy yard and a path, just like at church!

Daddy's house is still under construction, pictures to come later....

What a day!!

So I tried today to take some pictures of the kids in front of the tree for the Christmas cards, I know they are late. I thought it would be cute this year if they were in pj's. My children had other ideas. I could not get the older to keep his hands down and look at the camera. My daughter was her usually I will do it my way or no way self. She refused to look at the camera when I threatened to throw away her gingerbread house stuff I finially got a couple pictures out of them. Why is it they are happy to pose any other time, but when I really want it they refuse! I love them to death and today the death almost came :) I have never had my anger level rise in a matter of seconds to that degree before. I had to step outside. Christmas is a happy time and you will smile ;) Right? Here are some shots that did not end up on the card.

This was the runner up:

This would have been great if he would look at the camera:

Good thing I love them lots and they are so darn cute!!

Ah, there was a little boy under all that hair!

Jackson's hair was so long. It grows out so fast and he does not like hair cuts so we kind of put it off. Today we gave him a hair the faces were priceless. He had the half whine half laugh going the whole time.

The before, so shaggy!

The after, so handsome!!

He manged to survive the awful 15 minutes it took to cut his hair. As a reward he had some tiny marshmallows and starwberry ice cream, life is so hard.

Good bye to Two Amazing Families

We had a good bye party for a couple of families that are leaving us. The Johnston's and The Young's. Both Chrystal and Mandy have helped to make my transition to Portland so much easier. They have been friends to me and my children. We have had so many fun times this past year at the zoo, OMSI, park, farmers market, pool, bubbles, pushing doll strollers around, and too many other good times to even mention. Now they get to move on to the next phase in their life. Congrats to them!!

Tiffany had a fantastic idea for making them each a small scrapbook with page from each family they have come to love, past and present. Tiffany did pages for families who have moved away, they were perfect. We had some blown up pictures of each family for everyone to sign and say their goodbye message. A party wouldn't be complete with cake :) Costco is fabulous! Thank you to everyone who made a page for the books and who stopped by that night.

Jackson's Big Annoucement

Sunday after we finished teaching our class and joined the rest of primary I had about three or four women come up and congradulate me on my pregnancy. LET ME SAY I AM NOT PREGNANT!! However my son wishes otherwise. For weeks he has been asking if there can be a baby in my tummy. He would like it to be a brother not a sister like Abagayle, which is hilarious to me. When I tell him no, he proceeds to ask if tommorow there can be a baby in my tummy. Apparently he announced quite loudly to the entire primary room that his mommy had a baby in her tummy! After I set the record straight, I pulled Jackson aside to tell him AGAIN that I do not have a baby in my tummy, he told me "but I really want a brother" Sorry dude not happening anytime soon, despite your annoucements to the ward.

WOW it is Santa Clause!!!

Last Saturday night we took the kids to Clackamas mall to play on the toys for bit, to get tuckered out. As we were leaving the mall we walked by the Santa set up. I hear Jackson yell "It is Santa Mom!" he was so excited. Let me say a little background here: Now we have deceided not to have presents under the tree from Santa. (It has been a seven year "disagreement" about if we should do Santa or not) However I guess TV, preschool, friends and grandma have got the idea in his head. He was so excited to see Santa Clause, he wanted to go over and see him and tell him all about the ship and the helicopter he wants for Christmas. We did not have time to do it that night. I did agree to take him back another time to sit on Santa's lap. This is the first year they have been interested in Santa, I am so excited!!
